    Visor helmet: what types are there?

    Sun visors

    Sun visors are only intended for use during the day and are offered with different tints. With a sun visor, you are perfectly equipped to protect yourself from the dazzling rays of the sun when riding a motorcycle. In many helmets, they can be integrated in addition to the normal, clear helmet visor and can be easily folded down when the sun is shining.

    Pinlock lenses

    A double visor in a motorcycle helmet, which consists of a main visor and a second, smaller plastic disc, is called a pinlock lens. With this pinlock lens you prevent the air you breathe from fogging up the window in cold weather and thus restricting your view. Full-face helmets can often be retrofitted with a pinlock lens if this is not built in from the start.

    Visors

    Visors are available in different designs, for example as clear, tinted or mirrored models as well as visors with pinlock preparation. As tinted helmet visors, they offer protection from the dazzling light of the sun or oncoming drivers. Orange and yellow visors increase the contrast in poor visibility.

    Regardless of whether you opt for a motorcycle helmet with a black visor or a mirrored motorcycle helmet visor, these may only be used in daylight and good weather conditions, as they only let in little light and are therefore a danger in twilight and darkness.     How is the helmet visor cleaned?

    So that your vision is not impaired by dirt or insects while driving, you should keep your motorcycle visor clean at all times, regardless of whether it is a motorcycle helmet with a dark visor or a clear visor. On longer tours, it is worth cleaning your visor during the break, especially when there are a lot of insects around. But what do you have to consider when cleaning?

    Stubborn dirt should be soaked with water so that it can then be removed with a microfibre cloth. Avoid wiping away small particles and dirt before soaking - this can lead to unsightly scratches. Heavy rain often helps to remove the major dirt. If only nice weather is in sight, let some water run over the visor yourself or place a damp paper towel on it. Do not use sponges, these can also cause scratches. For interior cleaning, you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
